OCTAGONAL BLENDER SPECIFICATIONS :-

An octagonal blender is a specialized type of blender used in the pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries for the homogeneous mixing of powders and granules. Some of the general specifications of an octagonal blender are:
- Shape: As the name suggests, the shape of the blender is octagonal, with eight faces that create a unique tumbling action, resulting in a more efficient mixing process.
- Material of construction: Octagonal blenders can be made of various materials, such as stainless steel, mild steel, or a combination of both.
- Capacity: The blender’s capacity can vary from a few hundred liters to several thousand liters, depending on the specific requirements of the application.
- Mixing time: The mixing time required to achieve homogeneity depends on the material’s properties, the size of the blender, and the batch size. Typically, mixing times range from 15 to 30 minutes.
- Power requirements: The power requirements for an octagonal blender depend on the blender’s size and the type of material being mixed. A typical range of power consumption for a blender is 2-10 horsepower.
- Discharge mechanism: Octagonal blenders typically have a discharge valve located at the bottom to discharge the material after the mixing process.
- Cleaning and maintenance: Octagonal blenders are designed for easy cleaning and maintenance. They typically have a smooth, polished surface and are equipped with access doors for cleaning and inspection.
- Safety features: Octagonal blenders have safety features such as interlocking systems that prevent the blender from operating when access doors are open and safety switches that shut off the machine in case of an emergency.
Construction of Octagonal
- Shell- Consist of SS polygon shaped body with rectangular central portion and top and bottom polygonal frustum. The shell is provided with a rectangular full side opening at top and with air tight cover.
- Charging / Discharging (a) The circular opening is provided with a SS butterfly valve and a conical adapter to facilitate clamping of the charging drum in the raised position with the help of a mechanical remotely operated arrangement. The arrangement of conical adapter and charging drum for charging /discharging forms a closed system to make the operated dust free leading to better GMP. (b) It the unit is provided without charging drum arrangement the butterfly valve can be replaced by an iris valve. Charging drum are of 100 liters capacity of 500 dia * 550 ht. (c) A rectangular opening is provided for cleaning and locating the baffle during change over.
- Baffle – 1No. adjustable and removable baffle fitted diagonally inside the shell for faster and efficient blending.
- Drive mechanism consists of suitable HP, 3phase 440V, 50 cycles 1440 RPM TEFC electric motor coupled with suitable gearbox and chain drive to give final RPM as required.
- Mounting The driving shaft of the shell are mounted on suitable Plummer block and the entire assembly alone with drive is mounted on a robust MS ‘A’ shaped frame which is protected with SS covers.
- Safety Arrangement SS pipe railing is provided with limit switch arrangement to prevent unit from starting when operator is working on the machine.
- Control Panel Unit provided with suitable control panel with starter and push button to actuate the drive and for INCHING OPERATION. The circuit consists of MCCB in relay and contactor in series. Ample overload protection is provided by the MCCB and the relay wires coming out of the connections are numbered for easy recognition.
- MOC All contact parts SS 304 construction and Non contact parts SS 304.
- Finish All joints argon Arc welded and all SS parts polished to suitable finish required of Pharmaceutical equipment and MS parts painted to smooth finish.
- Discharge Height 850 mm or to your choice subject to your confirmation. Options Available.
- Unit with FLP motors and FLP push button station but with non FLP panel to be mounted outside FLP area unit with SS 316 contact parts unit GMP model i.e. non contact parts SS 304 or cladded/covered with SS 304 wherever possible, with SS drive covered and SS railing.
